0The world has lost a great man. Steve ‘Sproutman’ Meyerowitz has passed away from a car accident this week. ‘Sproutman’ Steve was dedicated to educating and providing an incredible service to the community with his vast knowledge and experience in healthful living. ‘Sproutman’ Steve was the author of several books on sprouting, wheat grass, food combining, and juicing. He was an advocate of green living, living foods/raw foods, and a vegan lifestyle.
-Provides all that is needed to create a home garden!
I hosted ‘Sproutman’ Steve as a guest speaker, on several occasions for Accent On Wellness. He spoke at Bonobo’s restaurant and at Gravity East Village in NYC.
I interviewed him in 2008 for my internet radio program ‘Vitality’ that I hosted with Mike Perrine.

****I am reaching out to other community leaders to create a memorial for him in a few weeks. If you are interested in attending or contributing please send me a message by email donna@gravityeastvillage.com.
Steve was a legend. Always professional, caring, kind, compassionate and a gentleman. He was a tremendous example of what he preaches on living a clean healthy lifestyle. He was an inspiration to so many people including myself. There is no one that can replace him. He was a friend of mine and I am devastated to know of his passing.
I am sending my deepest sympathies to his wife, children and all loved ones.
Rest In Peace My Friend and Thank you for following your dreams and making a difference in the world.

BIO: Steve Meyerowitz
Meyerowitz’s innovative kitchen gardening techniques and the cuisine he developed from them gave rise to a “School for Sprouts.” He began teaching indoor gardening 12 stories above the streets of New York City. He called his no-cooking school The Sprout House, since so much of his cuisine included vegetables from his kitchen garden sprouts. Meyerowitz invented two home sprouters, The Flax Sprout Bag and a tabletop greenhouse called Sproutman’s Kitchen Garden Salad Grower. He also supplied his growing kits and a full line of organic sprouting seeds via mail order.
Meyerowitz has since sold the mail order business, and he and his family now breathe fresher air in the Berkshire mountains of Massachusetts. Much of the information from his teaching years have been related in his books. He has the most popular books on sprouts, including Sprouts the Miracle Food, Sproutman’s Kitchen Garden Cookbook, and Wheatgrass Nature’s Finest Medicine, to name a few. But he also has other books on subjects such as fasting and raw juice therapy.
